Service to Others
In the Upper School, the worthiness of service to others is one SEA Core Value that we think about in very practical ways. In addition to a variety of service projects that are coordinated by each grade level throughout the year, including food drives at Thanksgiving and in the Spring, Upper School advisories spend several months getting to know a variety of nonprofit organizations, which, during the 2016-2017 school year, included AJAPO Refugee Immigrant Services and The Homeless Children’s Education Fund for the purpose of forging long-term partnerships with these organizations that are characterized by service and engagement. As students become better acquainted with their organizations, they also prepare and deliver a 3-minute Fast Pitch speech designed to capture the essence of the organization’s mission and to generate interest and concern among the SEA community around the organization’s initiatives.
