A cause that is near and dear to my heart is Autism Awareness. I have two cousins with the disorder. They have inspired me not only as a teacher and in my personal life, but they have also shown me the great importance of bringing awareness to find the cause of this disorder and what we can do to help people living with autism.
The most memorable activity in PreK for me would be making elephant toothpaste during our dental health unit and watching the students' faces light up when they see the foam bubble up out of the bottle and then make a big mess with it! My other favorite activity is building leprechaun traps with our third grade buddies.
My favorite teacher was my first grade teacher. It was in the first grade that I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. She was the teacher who gave me extra papers for my "school" I made in my basement, and while I don't remember much of first grade I remember her kindness and the thoughtfulness she devoted to me and everyone in our class.
