Newly-Enrolled Families

Welcome to St. Edmund's Academy!  We are very excited to be welcoming your child and your entire family into our diverse and vibrant community next year!  Whether this is their first school experience or if you have an older student transferring from elsewhere, you will likely have a fair share of questions over the next few months.  We've compiled this repository of information to hopefully answer most of those questions, but we are always here and happy to help if you can't easily find the answer or need further clarification.  Please reach out at any time!

Tuition Payments

Tuition payments are handled through the Smart Tuition system.  Instructions for logging in and setting up payment arrangements will be emailed to parents in early-June.  The first tuition bill will be sent on July 10th with a due date of July 31st.

Transportation

Twenty-one school districts provide bus transportation to students in Kindergarten - 8th Grade at St. Edmund's Academy.  Eligible families interested in bussing can easily request this service through one of the mandatory Back to School forms, which will be released mid-summer.  For a complete list of school districts that provide bus transportation, please referr to our FAQ page or call 412-521-1907 for further information. 

After School Programs

The school day spans from 8:00 a.m. - 3:25 p.m. and we have after school care available until 6:00 p.m.

Learn more about our After School Programming options, including both the Extended Day Program and SEA Explorer Programs.  Payment for the Extended Day Program is included on your tuition bill, beginning September 2019. Payment and registration for SEA Explorer classes can be completed online.
 
Registration and specific information about the SEA Explorer classes will be available in August.

SEA PTA Welcomes You!

The St. Edmund's Academy PTA cultivates a welcoming community for our families--both new and returning.  All parents are automatically given membership in the PTA upon enrollment with no fees or dues.  Ample opportunities exist for parents to volunteer their time and expertise throughout the year, as their schedules permit.  For additional information on how to get involved with the PTA and in your child's

School Forms

We've simplified our back-to-school forms so that almost all of them can be completed online.  In July, you will receive an email with information on accessing these forms through SEA Port--our learning and information management system.  Additionally, you will be required to submit your child's health records through the Magnus Health System.  For further information, please read the welcome letter from our school nurse, Darcy Lutz.

Fall Sports

Fall sports at St. Edmund's Academy include Cross Country (Grades 2-8), Field Hockey (Grades 6-8), and Soccer (Grades 6-8).  Information about sign-ups and summer fun runs with the XC team will be posted mid-summer.

Lower School Summer Assignments

Lower school summer packets are meant to be a fun way for our youngest students to keep the skills they learned during the school year fresh and to allow additional opportunities for parents and family members to be a part of their child's summertime learning.  Additional activities for fun and learning can also be found on the St. Edmund's Academy Pinterest page.

Upper School Summer Assignments & Resources

In the midst of their summertime fun and relaxation, Upper School students keep fresh with their learning through these teacher-designed packets.  Please note which sections of the packet are required and which sections are optional for students seeking additional enrichment.

School Calendar

  • School Calendar 2019-2020
    Get those uniforms pressed and those shoes shined up!  The first day of school for the 2019-2020 school year is set for 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27th.  Stop by for a photo with the school mascot and some light refreshments for parents to celebrate the beginning of another year!  Download the full calendar for the year for further information.

School Lunch Program

Students may either bring their lunches or purchase food through the school cafeteria.  Cash is not accepted in the school cafeteria but you may add money to your child's My School Bucks account at www.myschoolbucks.com.  You can also monitor your child's purchases and help guide them in healthy eating habits through this account.  Instructions for creating a My School Bucks account will be emailed to parents in July.  For more information about our school lunch program, please visit click here.

  • July 24 & August 7 - Preschool/PreK Play Dates

    July 24th and August 7th, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. (weather permitting)
    All Preschool and PreK families (both new and returning) are invited to the play deck to share a snack, see some teachers, and play with friends.  
  • July 25 & August 8 - Kindergarten/First Grade Play Date

  • August 13 - Lower School Division Picnic

    Tuesday, August 13th, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
    Connect with Lower School families at Color Me Mine in East Liberty (5971 Broad Street) for some painting fun!  Parents should plan to stay along with their children to supervise and socialize. RSVP here by 8/7/2019.
  • August 14 - Upper School Division Picnic

    Wednesday, August 14th, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
    All new and returning Upper School students (Grades 5 - 8) are invited to Dave 'n Busters in the Waterfront to meet new students and connect with old friends. Students will work in teams to successfully complete a scavenger hunt around the facility.  Bragging rights go to the winning team!  Parents are welcome to stay at the bar and socialize or they can leave and return to pick kids up at 5:30. RSVP here by 8/7/2019.
  • August 20 - New Student Orientation (Grades 6 - 8)

    August 20th, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
    New students entering Grades 6 - 8 join up with their host students to prepare for the start of the new school year.  Lunch will be provided.
  • August 22 - New Family Teacher Meet & Greet

    August 22nd, 4:30 - 5:00 p.m.
    Before the fun of the Welcome Back Picnic begins, new families are invited to tour classrooms and meet their teachers before the rest of the community. Classrooms will be open for visitation throughout the picnic as well but feel free to come early for some extra personal time.
  • August 22 - SEA Family Welcome Back Picnic

    August 22nd, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
    The school year always starts with a bang here, so you won’t want to miss this fun evening. Fun details of the event will be released in late May but mark your calendars now!
  • August 27 - First Day of School

    Tuesday, August 27th, 7:30 a.m. - Join us on the first day of school for a photo opportunity with the school mascot before you say your goodbyes!  The school day begins at 8:00 a.m., but once your kids are settled into their rooms, families are invited to stay and socialize at our morning coffee hour.  

Overnight Trips

Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 start the school year off with overnight trips to build connections with their classmates, talk about their increased responsibilities and privileges of their new grade levels, and to have fun with their friends and teachers.  This year's trips are scheduled for September 5-6, 2019.

School Supplies

Students in Preschool - 4th Grade do not need to bring any required supplies to school.  The school provides all necessary materials.  Students entering Grades 5 - 8 can refer to the supply list below.  Our PTA sells pre-packaged bundles of all Upper School supplies.  Orders are processed online only by clicking here.  All orders must be received by June 30th in order to have supp
