SEA’s 4th grade partners with The Children’s Institute Day School in a “buddies” program. Throughout the year, SEA students visit their buddies at The Day School, create and exchange cards and seasonal banners, and go on field trips together. This partnership is my most favorite thing about fourth grade. It gives our students a chance to live out all of our Core Values, it creates an awareness of others, and it strengthens their sense of empathy. Watching their friendships blossom over the course of the year is so heartwarming to witness.
I spent six months abroad during college in Sydney, Australia. While I was there, I met three friends that I still travel with annually. I’ve also vacationed in Ireland with my husband. The best part of traveling is the company you keep and living new experiences with the people you love most.
I am inspired by my grandfather and my dad. Both have lived lives of humility and service. They have worked and continue to work hard, are grateful for all that life has given to them, and always put the needs and feelings of others before their own.
I love teaching at St. Edmund’s Academy because there is truly a sense of community. Parents, teachers, administrators, and staff all acknowledge that we are here for the kids. Decisions made at all levels are for the benefit of our students first and foremost. The level of care and commitment to creating outstanding young people is just higher here.
