Middle (Grades 5-8)
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Grade 5: Grade 5 will hold the annual used book drive during the month of April. Books for teenagers, children, toddlers, and adults will be donated to the public.
Grade 6: Grade 6 participates in the “Operation Safety Net” program through Mercy Hospital. The students collect white, athletic socks to be delivered to the unsheltered and transitional homeless in the community.
Grade 7: Grade 7 participates in packaging food items for the local Food Bank and plays Bingo with residents of Canterbury Place. Grade 7 also donated money to send to Mr. Bucci's sponsored child in Guatemala.
Grade 8: Grade 8 participates in creating soup bowls to donate to the Empty Bowls, Just Harvest Fundraiser through the Pittsburgh Food Bank. Eighth Grade students organize and implement a school food drive at Thanksgiving. Each homeroom creates a Thanksgiving dinner box which includes non-perishable foods traditionally enjoyed at this time of year.
